Well, duh… who doesn’t go to the beach and build a Sand Castle?!?! There are so many different approaches to the “how-to’s” of sand castle making, but here are some great tips from Wikihow.com. Don’t forget to think outside of the box! Bring some cake molds, or anything else that you can use to shape the different parts of a sand castle you may want to build and it will be extra fun and creative!
Looking for something to keep the kids and family entertained, while keeping them moving and on-the-go? How about a Beach Family Scavenger Hunt?! Here is a great one at TheBalloonRed.blogspot.com that I absolutely loved and best of all, it takes minimal work to prepare and is free! Check it out!
Here is a fun game that you can try at the beach, Musical Beach Towels. Again? Free! This was found at Parents.com and as long as you have enough kids involved (or adults who want to join in the fun) this is sure to be a hoot! Make sure you have some music with you!
Ready to ‘try your hand’ at a fun Beach Craft? Haha! How about making a Sand Handprint that was found at CraftingAGreenWorld.com! You’ll need to bring some special items to the beach to pull this one off, but it’s easy and SUCH a fun craft for your kids to create. You’ll also find step-by-step instructions with this link, so you are well on your way!
Everyone at one time or another has played “Hot Potato”. Give it a whirl at the beach! This was a cute idea that was found on Pinterest. Basically, use a beach ball (or any ball that you can bring to the beach) and see how many times the ball can stay in the air throwing it back and forth between the participants before it falls! This one is always fun and everyone always wants to try again to break that last record!
Is it going to be a windy day at the beach? If so, fly a kite! Find them in the dollar store or there are some super cute ones at Amazon. It’s always so much fun to see the looks on the kids faces when we’re flying kites. What a great beach activity!
Bring a frisbee to the beach! Here are some great ones that you can pick up at Amazon or of course in the dollar store. There are lots of fun and challenging things you can do as a family to make it a great time. Set up some targets for everyone to hit and see who can get the closest, play frisbee golf in the sand, or just throw it back and forth until everyone’s heart is content.
This awesome beach activity is a personal favorite. Why? Because we did this last year and it was a HIT! Painting shells with watercolors was so exciting for my daughter and she just was enamored with being able to make special creations with the shells she had found around the beach. I found this idea at Pinterest and I’ll definitely be doing it again this summer!
Ready to amp the beach fun up a little? How about building volcanoes at the Beach! Check out the idea here at OnePerfectDayBlog.net. Looks like fun to me!
This is a great idea that can be made at home and brought to the beach! Or even just use some of the sand pails at the beach and make one on-the-fly! Check out this Beach Bean Bag Toss that was found at Pinterest. You can grab some bowls or pails from the dollar store and make the “point signs” with any arts and crafts scraps you may have lying around the house. And it’s always good to keep those numbers in the kids’ heads during summer vacation!
These activities are sure to get the kids excited for some summer fun at the beach! I love that these ideas are simple and frugal, yet will be so much fun for my family to participate in. And you might just be able to get a little relaxing in at the beach yourself with the kids so occupied in all of these great ideas! Enjoy!
