I don’t know about you…but when it comes to buying a planner, I’m super picky. Ok, I’m super picky about a lot of things which is why I make my own invitations, decorations, and many other things, but that’s another story for another day! 😀 When choosing a planner I need there to be a space for everything I need, but not lots of extra stuff that makes using it more complicated than it should be.
I came across the blog IHeart Organizing a few weeks ago and fell in love! There are SO MANY wonderful ideas to take control of your clutter and make your everyday life easier! In addition there are printables available to help you in your organizing efforts. When I saw the 2013 planner printables I had to have them and, thanks to Jen at IHeart Organizing, my wish came true when she sent me the printables to review. See something you have to have? Use code IHEARTSBD15 at the IHeart Organizing Etsy Shop to save 15% on your order through 1/31/13 😉
The 2013 Planner kit includes…
- Personalized Coversheet
- Special Dates
- 12 Dated Monthly Calendar Pages
- 52 Weeks of Daily Planner Pages
- Notes Page
- Weekly Meal Planning/Grocery List Page
The pages contained everything I needed, including a space for planning daily meals, and how fun that you can do anything you wanted with them. So I printed them out and decided I would spiral bind them…did you know that it’s only $4 – $5 to have something spiral bound at Staples?!
Another option would be to use a discbound system like Jen did. This would initially be a little more expensive to purchase the cover and paper punch, but would pay off in the long run since you can reuse the cover year after year and of course have the punch at your diposal for any project. With the right coupon and Staples Rewards you would probably be able to get both at a wonderful price. I already used my rewards for this month and didn’t want to wait, so spiral binding is what I chose. I was thrilled when they had a navy blue spiral and back cover to match…see doesn’t take much to make me happy!
I guess I was a little excited to make my planner and didn’t realize that I wasn’t using the best quality paper. I just used the 20 lb copy paper I use every day, but should have used a little better quality 24lb or even 32lb paper. No big deal, it’s just that with the thinner paper you can see a little of what’s on the other side. I love it just the same 😀
It’s so nice that since you are making your own planner, you can do anything you would like! Use tabs to divide the months (or not), put the pages in whatever order works best for you, and choose how to put it all together. Instead of including the Weekly Meal Planning/Grocery List Page in my planner, I laminated it and will use it as a dry erase page every week. Since I work on planning meals a week in advance, I put it on my fridge and that way I can add to the list as I come across things I need or easily change meals. That’s the great thing…once you purchase the printables you are free to use them for yourself however you would like. 🙂
I found these Martha Stewart sticky tabs at Staples on clearance for only $2.20.
And these fun pens were on sale at Target (will be on sale this week through 1/19) for only $3.
So who wants to create their own planner? Thanks to Jen at IHeart Organizing, 5 lucky readers will win 2013 planner printables and a personalized cover sheet to match…a $25 value!
