I have a very special occasion coming up in the beginning of April – my daughter will be 3 and she absolutely LOVES Sofia the First! I’m so excited to put together the perfect Sofia birthday party for her, as you may have seen on my Sofia the First Pinterest board 🙂 Such a big Sofia fan of course needs her own princess gown, so you can imagine how bummed I was when I saw that the going price is a crazy $83 on Amazon right now and the dress has been sold out for weeks at DisneyStore.com where it was priced at $39.
Well, it just so happens that I’ve gone through this Disney costume hunt before! Right around the time that Toy Story 3 came out my son wanted to be Buzz Lightyear for Halloween. There were quite a few costumes around, but the official one (with the light up wings) was nowhere to be found. I refused to give up so I started calling Disney stores across the country and found my Buzz costume! For the extra cost of shipping they shipped it right to my house.
I got to thinking that this plan should also work for my now Sofia crisis. I pulled up the store locator and called the store closest to me and they told me that they have been sold out and don’t plan to get any gowns until May. They said that all gowns going out now were being shipped to the “new stores”…hmm. So I started looking through the store locator online and found that it conveniently listed which stores had “Magical New Store Designs!” I started with the store closest to me (not that it matters since it’s being shipped) and lo and behold they had my Sofia gown in stock! It ships tomorrow for the magical price of $39 + $8.95 shipping 😀
You ROCK! Your post was the magic bullet. I called the first Magical Store Design location on my list, and wallaaaaa, they “magically” had the size we needed. I was even able to nab the crown while I was at it. Now, if I could find that darn amulet!

No luck for us, have called California, NY, Florida, Georgia and other states and they keep telling me that they’re sold out of all other sizes except for 18/24 months and 2/3. We also have a Sofia Birthday Party coming up in April. Sad 🙁
Oh no…I needed the 2/3 size. Did you see all of the cute Sofia tees and tutus on Etsy? That was going to be my plan if I didn’t find the dress. They even have cute birthday ones. I pinned them on my Sofia party board. Hope they help turn your frown upside down! 🙂
