Just as expected, since writing this post in the summer of 2013, this cruise has become a yearly tradition during our annual vacation to Ocean City, NJ 🙂
This year while vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, my family had the pleasure of enjoying a dolphin and whale watching cruise thanks to the Cape May Whale Watch & Research Center! From Ocean City it took us only about 30 minutes on the Garden State Parkway to arrive at Utsch’s Marina where we boarded our cruise. This was the first year we did something like this and it was such a wonderful experience! We all had a fabulous time, especially the kids.
The ship, the American Star, was 90-foot long and very clean and well maintained. Throughout the tour information was shared by the ship’s very knowledgeable tour guide. We went on the 9:30 am dolphin and whale cruise which included a complimentary continental breakfast of coffee, juice, and donuts. As you can see, the kids thoroughly enjoyed it 🙂
The cruise traveled all along the island of Cape May and took us out about 3 miles off shore during our 2-1/2 hour trip. While there weren’t any whales that came up to visit during our trip, we saw a ton of dolphins. Some even swam right up next to the boat!
There are a few different cruises to choose from. There’s even a sunset dolphin dinner cruise which includes complimentary pizza and hot dogs. View the complete cruise schedule.
If you would like to go on one of these cruises, of course I’ve found a few ways for your family to save! Visit the Cape May Whale Watch & Research Center site to see the offers available.
