Saving money at Target is easy because of their competitive prices. But did you know that you can use manufacturerâs coupons, store coupons, gift card deals, special purchase deals, and the Low Price Promise to grab an even better deal?
Target’s Coupon Policy
As with any store you are shopping at, the first thing you should do is review Targetâs coupon policy and be sure to have a copy with you while shopping. Not only does this help you with any confusion you might have while in the store, but it is also great to have in case your cashier isnât familiar with the policy. Some of the highlights of the policy include that you can use one manufacturerâs coupon and one Target coupon per item and that coupons will be adjusted down if the value of the coupon is greater than the item you are purchasing (Target does not give cash back for overage).
Target’s Low Price Promise
Target also price matches! Making one trip to a single store instead of driving all over town to get the best deals is a great way to save time, money, and gas. To take advantage of Targetâs Low Price Promise just bring an ad from a competitor store in your local market (the town or city you reside in) and identical items will be adjusted down to the advertised competitorâs price. Coupons can be used on price matched items also. Target store coupons will be applied before price matching. If the competitorâs price is still lower than the Target price after the store coupon the price will be reduced to match. Manufacturerâs coupons will be applied after the price match.
Target Store Coupons
Did you know that Target has store coupons which can be stacked with a manufacturerâs coupon to really get a great price? The most common type of Target coupons are Target Web Coupons which can be found at the Target website, but there are also store coupons found occasionally in Sunday newspaper inserts, magazines, mailers, catalinas, and even peelies on items in the store. In addition you can sign up to receive Target mobile store coupons on your Internet-capable phone. Once enrolled, just pull up these coupons on your phone when you are ready to check out. The cashier will scan the barcode and all applicable coupons will be applied. One other thing to noteâŚwhen handing over your coupons at checkout, hand over your manufacturerâs coupons first and then your Target store coupons. This will minimize that horrible sound that all couponers despise â BEEP!

Gift Card Deals and Special Purchase Deals
You should also be on the lookout for Gift Card Deals and Special Purchase Deals at Target. Sometimes youâll find these deals listed in the weekly sales ad and sometimes theyâll be unadvertised and just found in the store for a longer period of time. A Gift Card Deal is when a Target gift card is awarded for buying certain items.
When you buy the items necessary the register prompts the cashier and you are handed a gift card right at checkout. You wonât be able to use the gift card on the transaction for which you received it, but you can use it on any future transaction. And if you purchase more than one Gift Card Deal in the same transaction you will receive all gift cards you are eligible for.
Special Purchase Deals are deals such as âBuy 2 Get 1 Freeâ or an instant savings at the register when you purchase select items. Here’s an example…
Clearance
Finally, ALWAYS be on the lookout for clearance items at Target. After holidays or at the end of the seasons youâll find lots of items marked down, but there are also clearance items scattered throughout the store every day. Clearance items at up to 90% off in addition to a coupon or two will get you unbeatable prices on tons of items!
REDcards
You may want to consider signing up for a Target Debit Card, Target Credit Card or Target Visa Credit Card to save even more. When you use one of these cards you’ll save an additional 5% on your purchases and can even score FREE shipping when shopping at Target.com. I’m not a big fan of credit cards, so I went with the debit card.
