Life is messy…Kids are messy. Pets are messy. Husbands and significant others are messy. And yes, even you can be messy too.
Each morning I just bounce out of bed, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed (What, don’t you? 🙂 ), excited to start the day. And then before you know it, the unexpected happens. 6:30 am
As I’m walking down the hall out into the living room, eyes barely opened, things seem good so far…I mean I didn’t sleep in too late and I should have at least an hour to work until the kiddos are awake. Then it happens. SMOOSH! What in Heaven’s sake did I just step in?! Looking down I realize my foot just found the hairball gift that our cat left on the floor. How delightful!
9 am
Once I get the kids breakfast, it’s time to tackle the dishes from last night. As I get the last dishes into the dishwasher and can finally see the counter again, I notice the nice dark, sticky barbecue sauce stain left behind. No worries, this won’t be a problem.
10 am
My kids almost never finish their milk in the morning. Instead of letting it sit out all day and go bad waiting for them to possibly finish it and then spilling it down the drain when they don’t, I put it in the fridge until later when they ask for it. Well I guess my 5-year-old daughter was feeling extra independent today and decided she would get her leftover chocolate milk all by herself. It wasn’t until she came in the living room with her shirt soaking wet that I realized something had happened in the kitchen. “Mommy…um…I was getting my chocolate milk and it spilled.” Now I honestly can’t think of a worse place to spill something than inside the refrigerator.
After the initial I-just-sat-down-for-one-second Mommy anger passed, which I covered up with a smiling, “Ok, honey. I’ll take care of it,” I headed to the kitchen to see how bad it really was. And just as I had unfortunately expected…it WAS bad. The good news is that the chocolate milk had somehow missed the top two shelves, but it had hit the bottom two shelves and even made it’s way into the veggie bins in the bottom. Ugh!

Aren’t little boys’ potty skills just the best? Enough said!

Hubby’s home! And so are his work boots leaving a nice trail of concrete breadcrumbs through the kitchen! Oh well, not a problem. A quick sweep and then spot clean will do the trick.

Looks like my princess managed to sneak a crayon into her room. After having a little chat we both decided it would be best if we removed her artwork from the wall.
9 pm
Don’t you love when your kids have ice cream after their baths? Those adorable, yet very sticky faces and hands can’t get into bed. Thank goodness I know the perfect thing to gently take care of the mess on their little faces too.
